Steak, Taters, Veggies That's a medium-well ribeye done up in A1's Chicago Steakhouse sauce. The veggies (onions, mushrooms, green bell pepper) were marinated in the same sauce (different bag) and then cooked/fried/sauteed in a pan with holes in it; the drippings were allowed to drip down onto the steak. The potatoes are an old family recipe... basically, they're thinly sliced, spiced with salt, pepper, parsley, chives, and a few sprigs of fresh rosemary, wrapped in tinfoil with a few pats of butter, and thrown on the grill while it's heating; they need to cook for at least 45 minutes. The best part: The entire meal was had for, counting all costs already sunk (the potatos I'd had for two weeks and the steak sauce I'd used at least twice before...) for under $8. Nope, I ain't starving... Pan-seared spicy steak With seasoned corn. From a recipe published by Bonnie Tandy Leblang of Universal Press Syndicate. In a bowl, mix together 1/2 tsp. thyme, 1/2 tsp. onion powder, 1/4 tsp. garlic powder, 1/4 tsp. black pepper, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. (I used Hungarian paprika.) Season each side of your steak (I used a flank steak) while heating a skillet on medium high for 3 minutes. Cook about 5 minutes per side. Mine came out rare, so you can cook longer for medium or well-done, but it will probably be charred more than you like.
